Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What's in the app?
Twelve traditional pranayama techniques and three guided dhyana meditations, each paced by a breathing orb. You can adjust any of them, chain several into a flow, set a daily reminder, and see your practice add up over time.
Is it free?
Yes. There is nothing to buy, no subscription, and no advertising.
What devices are supported?
iPhone running iOS 26 or later, from the App Store, and Android phones running Android 8.0 or later, from Google Play. Your account works on both, so your practice follows you between them.
Do I need an account?
Yes, from version 4. It is your email address and a six-digit code — no password to choose or remember. The account is what lets your practice follow you to another device.
Does it work offline?
Practising does. Every session, streak and setting is saved on your device first and works with no connection at all. Signing in needs the internet, because the code has to reach your inbox, and your practice syncs when you next have a connection.

Practising

How do I change the pace of a session?
Tap a practice, then use the setup sheet to adjust the breath pace, pattern, rounds and duration before you begin. What you choose is remembered for that practice next time.
What is a flow?
Several practices run back to back as one sitting, with a short rest between each, so you never have to touch the screen mid-practice. There are a few ready-made ones on Today, and you can build your own — give it a name and it saves itself.
Why does Today suggest a different practice each time?
Today opens on what the hour suits — something more energising in the morning, something quieter late in the evening. Your favourites and recent practices are just below it if you'd rather pick yourself.
I can't hear the audio cues.
Make sure your device isn't in silent mode and the volume is up. Cue style — soft tones, a voice, or a metronome — and haptics can both be changed in Settings.
Does it keep going when the screen locks?
Yes. A session keeps its timing and its audio cues with the screen off or another app in front, so you can practise with the phone face down.
My daily reminder isn't arriving.
Reminders are scheduled by your device, so they need notification permission. Check Settings → Notifications → Pranayama on your phone, then confirm the reminder is switched on in Settings → Daily reminder in the app.
Is this safe for me?
Breathwork is not medical advice. If you are pregnant or have a heart, blood-pressure or respiratory condition, check with a professional first — particularly before the forceful practices, Bhastrika and Kapalbhati. Ease in gently and stop if you feel unwell. The full note is in the app under Settings → Health & safety.

Your account and data

Where is my data stored?
On your device, and in your account so it can reach your other devices. It is encrypted in transit and at rest. Nothing is shared with anyone, and there is no advertising. If you agree to share anonymous usage analytics, they go to our analytics provider without your name, email or account; you can turn them off in Settings → Share usage analytics. See our Privacy Policy.
How do I move to a new phone?
Install Pranayama and sign in with the same email address. Your practices, settings, favourites, flows and history come with you.
My sign-in code hasn't arrived.
Give it a minute, then check your spam folder. If it still hasn't come, request a new code — and if that fails too, email us and we'll look into it.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → your name → Delete account. It removes your account and everything stored against it, from every device, immediately. You do not need to email us.
